In order to pay our respects for GEN (R) Robert M. Shoemaker, who passed away on 21 JUN 2017, the General Membership meeting has been moved to 12 JUL 2017. The time, place and ticket sales remain the same as posted below:
Tickets are on sale now for the Central Texas-Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the US Army General Membership Meeting scheduled for 12 JLU 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Big Hoss BBQ located at 9502 E Trimmier Road in Killeen, TX.
The keynote speaker for the event will be III Corps and Fort Hood Command Sergeant Major Michael Crosby. The event is open to the public and all members of AUSA. In addition to the keynote address, the chapter will present its annual awards and will conduct another Vietnam Veteran pinning ceremony.
CSM Michael A. Crosby entered the United States Army in August 1988 and completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He has served in numerous leadership positions within cavalry and armor units from section sergeant to brigade command sergeant major.
Crosby’s assignments include: 2nd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment (FWD), Garlstedt Germany; 3rd Battalion 69th Armor Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia; 1st Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, Camp Casey, Korea; 2nd Squadron, 4th U.S. Cavalry and 3rd Squadron, 7th U.S. Cavalry, at Fort Stewart, Georgia; Philadelphia Recruiting Battalion with duty in Central New Jersey; Operations Group NTC ( Bronco Team) as a brigade reconnaissance troop observer controller, Fort Irwin, California; first sergeant, 1st Squadron, 32nd Cavalry (RSTA) HHT/B Troop Fort Campbell, Kentucky; senior enlisted advisor/trainer for 3rd Battalion, 358th Armor Regiment, Fort Lewis, Washington; squadron CSM for 4th Squadron, 10th U.S. Cavalry, Fort Carson, Colorado; brigade command sergeant major for 2/25 Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Inf. Div. (L) Schofield Barracks Hawaii. His most recent assignment was brigade command sergeant major for 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
His deployment experience includes: Operations Desert Storm/Shield, Operation Joint Guardian KFOR 3A, OIF I, OIF III/IV and Operation New Dawn.
Crosby has attended all levels of the Non-Commissioned Officers Education System, culminating with the Class 58 of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, and the Pre-Command and CSM Development Course. He is a graduate of the First Sergeants Course, Air Assault Course and the Army Recruiter Course. Crosby has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University and an MBA in Human Resources Management from Trident University.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (two oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal with valor, Army Achievement Medal (nine oak leaf clusters), Good Conduct Medal (eighth award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia and Kuwait), Southwest Asia Service Medal (three Bronze Service Stars), Overseas Service Ribbon (fourth award), Kosovo Campaign Ribbon, Korea Defense Service Medal, NATO Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, Gold Army Recruiting Badge, and Air Assault Badge. Crosby is a recipient of the Armor Association’s Honorable Order of Saint George, Ancient Order of Saint Barber and is a member of the U.S. Army Forces Command Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
